The ACSis now accepting applications for the 2026–2028 Clinical Scholar in Residence Program, a 2-year onsite fellowship in surgical outcomes research, health services research, healthcare policy, and quality improvement.

ACSClinical Scholars work within the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care to advance national quality improvement initiatives and conduct impactful research. Scholars receive comprehensive mentorship in clinical, statistical, and health services research from leaders in surgery and healthcare, and can collaborate with surgeons across the country. Participants also earn a master’s degree relevant to their work during the fellowship.

When asked to describe their experience, past Scholars said the program was “transformative,” “empowering,” and “critical to shaping my surgical career.”

Applicants must have completed at least 2 years of clinical training, be US citizens, and obtain approval from their home institution. Multiple positions focused on General Surgery are available from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. The application deadline is December 15, 2025.
